A New Kind of Normal – September 11 , 2022
Guest Speaker – Rev. Steven Wells
Rev. Steven Wells, a retired elder, is our guest preacher for Wesley Day. He joined Charles Wesley UMC in McLean in 1971 at the age of 16 along with his parents and siblings. In 1979 he became a candidate for the ordained ministry from Charles Wesley. During his pastoral ministry, Steve served 7 churches and on the Virginia Conference staff for a total of 38 years until his retirement in 2020.
Much has changed since I was a young member of Charles Wesley UMC over 40 years ago. Much has changed in our world since 9/11, COVID-19, and the ever present challenges that face the church. The once comfortable, expected, familiar way of life has been deeply challenged and what was once normal is now being redefined. Fear not! There is hope! We will discover how we can move forward as the body of Christ in the midst of the “New Normal.”
